This consolidation was part of an effort to streamline and simplify the standards for high-strength structural bolts, making it easier for industry professionals to specify and select fasteners for construction and engineering projects.

| Thread Length | For bolts up to and including 6 inches in length, the thread length is 2 times the diameter plus 1/4 inch. For bolts longer than 6 inches, the thread length is 2 times the diameter plus 1/2 inch. |
